YOUR STAY BEGINS WITH A STORY

More than a place to stay.

Behind the monumental doorway of Via Santa Maria 102, Pisa reveals a quieter side: centuries of learning, literary memories and rooms made for unhurried days.

01 / A MEDICI LEGACY · 1593

Walk into
another chapter.

Inaugurated in 1593 under Ferdinando I de’ Medici, the college welcomed deserving students, including those who could not afford their studies. This has always been a place for curiosity and discovery.

Its medieval roots and later architectural work by Raffaello Pagni tell a layered story. The Scuola Normale Superiore attributes the portal’s design to Giambologna; the city’s guide credits the marble portal and bust to Pagni.

Before stepping inside, look up at the pale marble, the carved arch and Ferdinando’s bust. Your stay begins at this very doorway.

02 / BOOKS, POETRY & SLOW MORNINGS

A few pages.
A little more time.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning lived here in 1846–1847. Elizabeth’s letters carried the heading “Collegio Ferdinando. Pisa.” An extraordinary story, woven into everyday life.

Today, bookshelves in our apartments invite you to keep that spirit alive. Pick a book, settle into a favourite corner and let the city wait a little.
